MULHOUSE

The discovery of the city starts with its historical centre and the admirable “Place de la Réunion” with medieval houses and colourful façades, the Rhine Renaissance style Town Hall and the Temple Saint-Etienne (protestant church) with its 14th century old stained-glass windows as well as the “Nouveau Quartier”, an architectural innovative set of buildings from the 19th century.
The visit carries on with beautiful museums – heritage of the city's rich past, such as the world-class Cité de l'Automobile - National Automobile Museum –Schlumpf Collection, the Train City and its incomparable collection, the Museum of Printed Fabrics with its famous collection of printed calicoes, or the Electropolis EDF Museum devoted to electricity. You may also wish to stroll along beautiful parks like the Zoological and Botanical Garden. Other museums in the neighbourhood will also surprise you: the Wallpaper Museum in Rixheim, the Ecomusée in Ungersheim (an open-air museum) and the Wesserling Park – Textile Museum in Husseren-Wesserling.

The Christmas Market is held on the Place de la Réunion, in the heart of the historical centre. Stalls decorated with shimmering fabrics and the joyful Christmas lights unique to Alsace offer a heart-warming atmosphere.

Automobile Festival
July 2 to 5 2009
In July, exceptional cars and beautiful body work invade Mulhouse, the European capital of technical museums and a major automobile collection location.
For three days, enthusiasts and fans, young and old alike will be able to enjoy a wide variety of shows, presentations and parades in the streets of the city and thus experience the fabulous history of the automobile.

Christmas Market
2009 - November 22 to December 30
Come and visit a traditional Alsatian Christmas Market in the heart of the historical centre of Mulhouse. Discover its specificity: A Christmas fabric designed each year to decorate the facades and pedestrian streets of the city centre and which gives a unique festive feeling to the Christmas Market.
