MONTPELLIER
And the Mediterranean sunlight is yours…
Capital of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, less than 3 hours from Barcelona and Italy and just 11 km from the Mediterranean Sea, Montpellier is the ideal place to discover a high-spirited city and some of the most prestigious world heritage sites.
A unique example of intelligent city planning in Europe, built by the world’s leading architects, Montpellier is a destination that is also rich with 1,000 years of history. Here you’ll find over 70 fabulous interior courtyards in private mansions dating from the 16th to 20th centuries, the oldest still-operating medical school in the western world, medieval streets lined with boutiques of all kinds, where top international brands mingle with small boutiques that exude the charm of yesteryear.
Montpellier also houses one of the richest fine arts collections in Europe, at the Fabre Museum, and is home to a wide variety of activities, internationally-renowned festivals, and unparalleled fine dining with a natural respect for excellent wine.
Last, but not least, Montpellier is a major destination for people wishing to learn French, as well as a place well-known for its medicine and violin-making traditions.
The must of Montpellier
Musée Fabre: a masterpiece to discover!
With its distinctly modern architecture, the Fabre Museum offers a spectacular contrast with the old stones of the site’s original mansion. Compositions by Buren in the front courtyard sign a new dimension for the Fabre Museum which is now showing 800 pictorial works, 3500 drawings, 900 engravings, and more…
A must to be seen!
